Looking for Sisterlocks Mentorship? Here's What to Expect

Aug 30
3 min read

Every experienced Sisterlocks consultant was once a beginner.

No amount of coursework can prepare you for every client, every hair type, or every situation you'll encounter as your business grows. While training gives you the knowledge to begin your journey, applying that knowledge with confidence often comes through experience.

That's where mentorship becomes invaluable.

Instead of figuring everything out through trial and error, you learn from someone who has already walked the path, solved the challenges, and understands the standards that make the Sisterlocks system unique. Mentorship gives you a safe place to ask questions, refine your skills, and build confidence before small uncertainties become bigger obstacles.

One of the biggest concerns new trainees have isn't whether they can perform the work. It's whether they're doing it correctly.

Questions like these are common:

"Am I choosing the right grid?"

"How can I improve my establishment speed?"

"What should I do if a client transfers to me?"

"Am I charging appropriately?"

"How do I organize my client records?"

These are practical questions that often arise after formal training has ended. Having ongoing support means you don't have to face them alone.

The right mentor doesn't simply answer your questions. They help you understand the reasoning behind the Sisterlocks system, giving you the confidence to approach every client with greater clarity and consistency.

Grow Your Skills With the Right Guidance

Strong Sisterlocks consultants aren't defined by technical skill alone.

Success also comes from understanding how to manage appointments, communicate with clients, stay organized, and continue improving your craft.

At Loving Locks, mentorship is designed to support both the technical and professional sides of your journey.

Depending on your goals, coaching may include guidance on hair analysis, consultations, Sisterlocks establishment, locking efficiency and speed, tool application, transfer assessments, documentation and client records, scheduling strategies, business growth, and proper sanitization practices.

Every coaching session is designed to strengthen the skills you'll use every day while helping you become more confident in the decisions you make behind the chair.

Because every trainee learns differently, Loving Locks offers several mentorship options to meet you where you are in your journey.

Whether you're looking for a single coaching session to work through a specific challenge or ongoing support as you continue building your business, there's a mentoring path designed to fit your goals.

Available options include:

  • Individual Coaching Sessions (online or in person)

  • In-Person Mentorship Shadow Sessions

  • Accelerated Mentoring Programs (half-day or full-day)

  • Three-Month Mentorship Program

  • Mentorship Subscription Program for continued guidance

For trainees looking for long-term support, the Mentorship Subscription Program combines comprehensive classroom learning through Curl Academy with hands-on salon experience, allowing you to continue learning while working with multiple clients based on your availability.

All classroom sessions and hands-on salon mentoring are taught and overseen by Sisterlocks® Senior Trainer Janelle Weems. Her goal isn't simply to teach techniques, but to help you understand why those techniques matter so you can confidently apply them throughout your career.

Build the Career You're Working Toward

One of Janelle's former mentees remembers exactly what those early days felt like.

"Starting out in the Sisterlocks industry felt overwhelming, but having Janelle as my mentor made all the difference. She helped me understand the standards, structure, and purpose behind the Sisterlocks system, and that knowledge gave me the confidence to step into my role with intention.

Looking back, I truly believe mentorship was one of the best investments I could have made in myself. If you're beginning your Sisterlocks journey, I can't recommend it enough. The guidance you receive today becomes a gift to your future self and to every client you'll serve." — Japan S.

She encourages every new trainee to find a mentor who can provide guidance during those early stages because the knowledge, encouragement, and practical support you receive today become an investment in both your future and the experience you'll provide to every client you serve.

The mentorship program is designed for professionals who are committed to growing within the Sisterlocks system. Qualified participants should be listed on the National Sisterlocks Registry as a Sisterlocks® Trainee, Approved Trainee, or Certified Consultant.

If that sounds like you, and you're looking for guidance that extends beyond your initial training, mentorship can help you turn knowledge into confidence and confidence into lasting success.
